The North Star – Sanjhee Gianchandani, New Delhi

O North Star, wherefore art thou?
Behind the clouds of despair or
hung above the thick, murky air?
To whom should I look upon for direction
where should I go in my moments of indecision?
For I cannot led you, seek you or reach out
my mind space is filled with hesitations and doubts
Looking for a sign, a green flag, a mere light
For no one really understands my plight
And you, O tyrannical star consumed
by your own arrogant fire
Condescending millions of eyes filled with
hope, faith, and desire.
Forsake thy vanity steaming from polished
appearance and being the object of adoration
for you are more often used in exploration
Show thyself to me and calm me down
and guide me to the land of everlasting
smiles and no traces of a frown!
