These magna is surely going to deployed nation’s many preserved problems and the mankind will find them graduated in a fine standard no doubt, but what about those homeless, restless, 192 village’s 40,000 families whose grievances did never ever being listen up by the government. We the people are so much proud of this project, but we should also be familiar with the other side of the sun which i think most of the people are not familiar with.

If you open every window of your house, chances of unwanted disturbance with some fresh air would be there but to get rid of from those junks it doesn’t mean to shut down the windows always. It’s your construction and for such little draught you can’t afford to cultivate in your land and left. You would have to try every effort to regain or to sort out the problems rather get irk. Our government is also on same boat today, as if they are really taking the credits to build the world’s 2nd biggest concrete gravity dam “SardaarSarover”, they should really keep open those windows also which brings the teary airs and groaning pain of the poor families who have been badly affected by this project rather to close the eyes and ears of self on their problems.

This most controversial development project of the nation inaugurated in Gujarat by Prime Minister Modi on September 17.The project which was laid by then prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru 56 years back, now have been dedicated to the nation. The giant is going to be billed as the lifeline of four important states i.e., Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. According to officials, it has a length of 1.2 km and a depth of 163 metres. The dam has damn 30 gatesinstalled; each one weighs 450 tonnes, filled to its capacity of 4.73 million cubic metres. The dam has two power houses river beds and canal head power house. Each has the installed capacity of 1,200MW and 250MW respectively, which are going to be shared among Maharashtra, (57%), Madhya Pradesh (27%) and Gujarat itself (16%). From those features the dam would help to irrigate 800,000 hectares of land in Gujarat and will provide drinking water to more than 50% of total villages of the state itself. While the canal network will also irrigate the parts of Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. With an earnings of RS 16,000 crore till the date, the dam has already surpassed twice of its construction cost.

The project report saw the light after it was being laid out on April, 1961 a year after Gujarat attained statehood after separation from the then state of Bombay. The report led to much dispute over the means of distributing the Narmada water among the three states -Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. As no state was ready to negotiate, it results in the Narmada control authority (NCA) and its review committee (RCNCA) to resolve this interstate disputes in 1969 granted an approval for the construction of 3000 small, 135 medium and 30 major dams including two mega dams: the Narmada Sagar and SardaarSarovar in 1979.As the development started, it came with the costs. People living on the proximity of the dams, with inundating of the villages and fertile lands by the dammed waters, displacing of thousands of families and deforestation of 13,385 hectares of land. The environment ministry even refused to provide NOC to the project as it had very much of natural calamities and grievances. It had been passed with some conditions later, but again as the project was supposed to get a capital by World Bank, was shelved and at last dismissed because of same old reason.

The affected people from Chota Barda Village have a saying that the sea level is gradually rising up to its zenith but this zenith won’t bring pleasure and appraisal for those appealed faces but only destructions. They have been forced to live in the landless land. A farmer in our country face one major problem in his entire life, and that is the shortage of water, but for this people, water has become problem. They can’t cultivate on the land which is already being filled with water all years. They can’t even walk. They can’t cultivate on the land which is already being filled with water all years. For a farmer, his land is his god and since from so long they have been fighting for their god. Activist like MeghaPatkarji have been standing with those people from very beginning but still government never even tried to look after those silent bodies. You have invested 16,000 crore for the project, but how much little would it cost to shift them and provide some piece of land so that they would at least die in peace, any commoner can predict. You have invested 16,000 crore for the project, but how much little would it cost to shift them and provide some piece of land so that they would at least die in peace, any commoner can predict. And if centre government is running this much shortage of capital that it can affect the sarkaari khazaana than those states who are benefiting by this project at least they should raise their helping hand for those unlucky hands which I think they should have done earlier. No one is stopping or demolishing this giant mega project which is meant for the betterment of mankind but a little bit of your approach with love and kind gratitude towards their basic demands can’t put the democracy on an edge.

Media can bring the changes in our society but what about those who never being approached to be a part of our society and left helplessly. It’s a responsibility of the media to cover them, their problems, fight for them, fight for injustice but please keep away the politics from such serious issues.
