Rains and Me – Rimni Chakravarty, Siliguri

rain nightThe rains continued to pour the whole day

It went on without lingering for a moment.

Incessant rains continued without a nonstop flow

My smile dries as the clothes have not dried

I have no urge to hide

That has lost my inner glow.

I feel so annoyed

In the midst of a huge void

She was there to look and cater to the domestic chore

Now I know how I could soar?

Well she has reached the shores

Of her final destination

I am sure   to reach there at the end of all the confusion.

What could I do to make the wet clothes dry?

An idea stuck me to try

As Ma would have done to iron them

I change like her to wonder at the rain!

Falling from the sky so vast

A new me after she has raised from the dust

To be a spirit

I wish could fall at her feet!

And say ‘Ma, I was wrong and you were always right”,

But now she is away from my sight!
