Thrissur tops in Keralotsavam

Thrissur district on Sunday won the overall championship in the Keralotsavam, the State-level arts, sports and agricultural festival, scoring 302 points.

Kozhikode district secured the second place with 214 points and Kannur district stood third, with 189 points.

The hosts bagged 224 points in sports events and 78 points in arts events. While Kozhikode got 138 and 76 points in sports and cultural events respectively.

Kalathilakam title was conferred to U.P. Rohini of Malappuram district. She secured 10 points by winning two first prizes in Kathakali Padam and lights music. She is a degree student of the Farooq College.

V.H. Badusha of Ernakulam district is the Kalaprathiba. He got 13 points with two first prizes in Odissi and Kathak and second prize in Manipuri dance. He is a dance teacher. V.S. Sunil Kumar, MLA, inaugurated the valedictory.

He distributed prizes for the winners. District Panchayat president K.V. Dasan presided over the function. Caricature artist Jayaraj Warrier was the chief guest of the function.
