Often in this fast, crowded street,
On modern life’s frenzied platform,
I’m forced to accept a fight-less defeat.
I disobey their mandates, decline to perform.
To this world’s seemingly discordant power,
Which even levies a tax on air and water
And forces you to work every day, every hour.
I oppose the sanction for the house of slaughter.
Around my ‘free’ way, the mighty forces press;
They claim this new earth is unconditionally theirs,
I am full of weaknesses and their ways merciless.
They’ve paid the fees – the millionaires & billionaires.
Even as I wilt, willing to succumb, to perish,
They won’t let me – now the market is bullish!
