Giridhar Murali

As a gentle breeze ruffled through my hair,

my thoughts roamed wide and far;

Though many years have passed since,

as if it was only yesterday I wince;

Those glorious eyes, that sweet smile,

of infinite radiance visible away from many a mile;

Those words of support when I hung by your shoulders,

those hands holding mine guiding me around life’s many boulders;

Though many years have passed since,

as if it was only yesterday I wince;

The beautiful feeling that people call love,

can dwarf all other experiences into meaninglessness somehow;

It can make us smile through tears,

it can embolden us through our fears;

I long for those wonderful moments ever,

being ready to trade everything I have just to love you forever;

Though many years have passed since,

as if it was only yesterday I wince;

I feel misery, I feel pain,

your sudden departure tries to kill all hope in vain;

Yet there is one thing I know for certain,

That I will love you until the close of my life’s curtain;

Though many years have passed since,

as if it was only yesterday that I wince; and somehow surprisingly rejoice …

  1. The poem is beautiful … And those repetitive lines in the poem both in the beginning and in the end makes it strong and effective …

  2. To know love, loss and to rejoice is to move on, cradling the pain and the precious memories. Touching.

  3. ” as if it was only yesterday that i wince..” the more you ” wince” the stronger you “rejoice”……..afterall life is a bunch of oxymorons intrinsically woven…. written well

    🙂

    Rushing, tearing past emotions so dear,

    my dreams fleeting, my boughs breaking,

    I closed my eyes tight,

    to keep you warm inside them…..forever !!!!!! 😉
